Trimming by polygon

You can trim 2D grids by removing nodes that are inside or outside a polygon (the type of the polygon must be set to boundary) using the Trim Surfaces by Polygon tool. After performing polygon trimming, if other nodes or groups of nodes exist that still need to be removed, you can use the other Removal tools.

You can verify whether a polyline is closed via the Polyline form (right-mouse click on a polyline set in the JewelExplorer or in a view and select Edit... ). On the form a checkbox next to the polyline's Id marks whether it is closed, or not.

To use the tool:

  1. Open the tool (prepare > Post-Processing Tools > 2D grid Tools > Removal > Trim Surfaces by Polygon).
  2. At the top of the form, select a source from the 'Source' drop-down list.  All the available 2D grids inside this folder are listed in the Surface to Trim table below.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the 2D grid or 2D grids you want to trim.
  4. Select a polygon from the Polygon drop-down list.  Only polylines of the type boundary are listed.
  5. Under Remove Section, select either Inside polygon or Outside polygon to choose whether to remove the 2D grid nodes inside or outside the polygon.
  6. Click Apply or OK to trim the grid or grids.
